From her performance on Broadway with the iconic “Forever Tango” at the Shubert Theater to her leading role in the film “Our Last Tango/Un tango más,“ Alejandra Gutty’s exquisite style is recognized for its intense emotional depth and refined aesthetics.
‘Talking Broadway Magazine’ said: “Her figure is monumental, with wonderful curves in her legs that eclipse Cyd Charisse in her MGM days…. ”
Alejandra has explored traditional, modern, and fusion works, and during her residencies in Berlin and Tokyo, she engaged in projects that combined different cultures and art forms.
Some of them include: the show “Forever Tango” by Luis Bravo at the Shubert Theater on Broadway, New York, and the film “Our Last Tango/Un tango más” by German Kral, produced by Wim Wenders, The show “Alma de Tango“ by Gloria and Eduardo Arquimbau produced by Min-on, Japan tour, concerts of “El Café de los Maestros” by Gustavo Santaolalla in London and Athens (Odeon of Herode Attiucus Theater), the documentary “Diálogos de Poeta y Bandoneón” with Horacio Ferrer and Raúl Garello, in Buenos Aires, the piece “Lorca Tango” by Tango Metropolis in Granada, the show “Millenium Tango Concert” by Pablo Veron in Buenos Aires and San Remo, TV special program “Forever Tango, live at Coliseo Podestá” for PBS USA and Canadá, “Bobo e Marco, i re del ballo” for Sky Uno TV Italia, videoclip “Funeral” for the rock/punk band Leningrad in Moscow; advertising campaign for “Samsung” in Korea; and recently, model for Mario Testino ‘s book on Argentina.

She is frequently invited to international festivals and congresses as a dancer and instructor, and serves as a judge in various competitions, including the Tango BA World Championship and its various venues.
The magic of theater.
The possibility of invoking the ‘duendes’…
The vibrant energy of the audience, altering and becoming part of a unique and unrepeatable moment.
The empty theater and its sounds, the ritual of the dressing room, the wings of the stage, the murmur of the audience when the curtain rises, and what remains when it closes.
*Among them are: the Shubert Theater on Broadway, New York; Kodak Theater and Cerritos Center in Los Angeles; Jackie Gleason in Miami; Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens; Frankfurt Opera and Berlin Philharmonic in Germany; Palacio de Congresos de Granada in Spain; Taipei National Theater in Taiwan; Shanghai Grand Theater in China; Teatro Astral, Opera, El Nacional, and Maipo in Buenos Aires, among many others.
The stage, a marvelous abyss that fascinates me to live.
▹ Some took place on immense stages, while others were in more intimate settings, in Buenos Aires and various parts of the world. With significant production or self-managed, in any form: theaters have their own magic, and I have experienced it.

✼ There are more individual performances at private events, exhibitions in milongas, congresses, and festivals, but the list above provides an overview of my journey on stage.
I can’t forget to mention that there were many nights filled with ‘duendes’. A privilege.
‘Reaching through’: that is my challenge.
The influence of the camera and editing defines much more than my proposal for interpretation and movement: it is a team effort, or at least I wish it to be.
Moving for the camera’s eye is very different from the projection that ‘live’ performances require.
While I prefer the theater, every time I managed to create something for the screen, I felt VERY grateful to have been able to capture my dancing body on video.
▹ Some projects as a dancer, others as an actress/performer, or as a choreographer/coach, but in every role, I went all in 😉

The desire to share tango dance ‘in the form of a class’ developed alongside my path as a dancer and performer. Looking back, I see it all makes perfect sense: the need to bring tango to ‘all possible stages’.
Through my participation in different productions, I traveled extensively, and in many of these places, I was also invited to give tango dance seminars and various types of classes. These ranged from recreational classes at festivals or dance studios to choreographic and stage work for shows and events.
*It’s impossible to name all the festivals and congresses I’ve been a part of, from the early ones in 1999-2000 in Sitges and Hamburg (some of the first tango festivals ever held) to the festivals in Shanghai, Seoul, Bali, Dubai, New Zealand, Medellin, Florianopolis, CITA BA; as well as workshops in Tokyo, Hiroshima, Beijing, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, New York, and of course, many times at the Tango BA Festival and World Championship and its venues.
I am passionate about this space of sharing and exchange. So much so that, in recent years, it has captivated nearly all my time and attention.
Alejandra Gutty learned the art of tango in the milongas—the dance halls of Buenos Aires—absorbing the technique and essence from the ‘milonguero’ dancers.
At the same time, she developed her dance by incorporating contemporary techniques such as release and contact improvisation, Pilates, yoga, sphere dynamics, and anything she felt necessary to meet her desires and challenges within tango dance.
Alejandra is a certified ontological coach, holding an international certification from the ICF.
Alejandra shares insights learned in the milongas, bridging the knowledge with an understanding of body/emotion/language mechanics.
She approaches tango from the foundation that this art form proposes: *“inner dynamics.”* Her workshops focus on fostering individual development to enhance coordination and communication within the partnership.
“From the Inside Out” has been the name of her workshops since 2007.
At the same time, she incorporates knowledge from other expressive tools, maximizing personal potential and enabling the development of a versatile dance style suited to different stage settings.
“Challenging paradigms, limits, and habits.”
Since 2015, Alejandra has been building her own international platform: Alejandra Gutty • Tango Coaching®.
She has assisted with direction, choreography, and production on multiple occasions—for theater, TV, video, and advertising, as well as in photo productions and film shoots—both in Buenos Aires and around the world.
And this is what she does in her classes and workshops: assist and co-create the journey. Alejandra replaces the word “teacher” with “coach” and “class” with “training.” After many years, today Tango Coaching® is a solidly established proposal with its own unique mark worldwide: TANGO COACHING® is a registered trademark of Alejandra Gutty.

From childhood, she felt a deep curiosity for music, movement, reading, and writing, all activities she enjoyed in solitude and without rules. (“There was neither time nor money to allow for the schooling of those whims.”)
As a teenager, she took some small steps at the University of La Plata, specifically in the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, followed by a bit of design in a tertiary program, but not much more until she fully arrived in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Almagro.
Her passion for the art of tango was born there—in the late ’90s—in the dance halls of Buenos Aires: the milongas.
The creation of details was constant, with unique and unrepeatable improvisation in a dialogue of sensations, stemming from a profound need to connect, express, and share.
It was the language of tango, much more than a dance…
I don’t believe we should wait for someone or something to confirm our desires: we must believe firmly and passionately in what we want and work to achieve it every day.
There will always be someone who doesn’t see your worth; make sure it’s not you.
To do it.
With the conviction of desire.
Let there be plenty of desire, then.
Let it be a yearning.
Let the yearning be immense.
Enough to sustain the futility of everything we do, and yet still want to do it as if something in it could be transcendent…
Cheers!
And let’s celebrate our desires.
